Description
Les Larmes de Jacqueline by Jacques Offenbach is one of the most expressive lyrical works in the cello repertoire.
The title translates to “Jacqueline’s Tears,” and the music reflects the dramatic emotional style of the Romantic era. Although Offenbach is most famous for his operas, this piece shows his gift for writing deeply expressive melodies for the cello.
This Intermediate version allows students to explore the musical depth of the piece while working on expressive phrasing, shifting, and lyrical bow control. The arrangement keeps the emotional character of the original composition while presenting the music in a format suitable for developing players.
This piece is excellent for tone study, recital repertoire, and musical storytelling. The long lyrical lines encourage students to think about breath, phrasing, and emotional interpretation.
This edition follows the CelloCoach teaching format and includes clear fingerings and bowings to guide students through the musical structure.
Music by Jacques Offenbach
