The CelloCoach Repertoire Companion brings together over 60 pieces for developing cellists, beginning with accessible one-octave music and progressing into two-octave repertoire, minor studies, pentatonic music and early-intermediate performance pieces.

Every selection connects to a related scale in The CelloCoach Scale Book and follows the same order of progression. This allows students to move directly from technical scale work into music built around the same key, fingerings and positions.

The collection includes familiar melodies, classical works, folk music and original compositions by Jonathan Humphries. Music ranges from Frère Jacques, Ode an die Freude, Can-Can and Waltzing Matilda to Canon in D, L’Éléphant, Für Elise, Pavane, Nocturne No. 20, Symphony No. 40, Una furtiva lagrima, Misirlou, Sakura, Sakura and La Llorona.

The book begins with music suitable for new players, then gradually asks for greater independence. As the repertoire develops, students work with shifting, extensions, tenor clef, two-octave fingerboard patterns, major and minor keys, pentatonic scales and more complex musical decisions.

Fingerings and technical guidance are included where they are most useful, but the later pieces encourage students to make their own choices. The goal is not simply to follow instructions. It is to recognise patterns, understand the fingerboard and become more confident when approaching unfamiliar music.
